Just a quick note to say that I’ve recently rebuilt the site, moving away from Wordpress to the static site generator Hugo. There are various reasons for this (cost, maintenance, security), and I’ll follow up with another post detailing the migration as there were a few challenges along the way that caught me out. Others might benefit from my experience.

For several years now I’ve considered creating a gaming blog. I’ve toyed with the idea of adding gaming content over on picnicerror.net, and have even posted a couple of articles on there in the past. But I really wanted to keep the focus separate, and have a dedicated area with more of a “gamey” feel to it, and leave picnicerror.net to Business Intelligence, data, and other related stuff. I’m an avid gamer, but have struggled in the last year or so (coincidentally since my daughter was born) to make as much time for gaming as I might like. I’ve also got plenty of opinions and thoughts on the industry that I feel like sharing.

Yet again I’ve let things slide and haven’t posted in a while. This one’s nothing exciting. I’m currently migrating to a new hosting provider, so any weirdness can be attributed to this.

2014 has been a very quiet year on picnicerror.net. Since moving job in April, things have been rather hectic, which has meant I’ve not had much time to post, despite having lots of good ideas for content. I’m hoping to pick things back up over the holidays and get some content ready for the new year. In the meantime though:

Just a quick note for anyone visiting the site that there may be some downtime and/or interruptions here on picnicerror.net over the next couple of days as I’m moving to a new hosting provider.  The site will hopefully be back up and stable by the beginning of next week.
